A little story

I have been recognised Top 3 dog trainers in Bexley for 2019 and London for 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. I am incredibly proud of these achievements as I could never dream about it when I first started. From a big passion, dream became a hobby for a girl, but soon the whole family got involved

Top Dog is very different from all other schools - that is what we have been told by many of our customers. I want my customers to feel comfortable, relaxed and happy when they come to the classes and not made feel that they failed their dog

Top Dog is where people can come together and feel like they are training their pups with friends, have a laugh and learn everything they need to know about their puppies.

We teach owners to understand their dogs better and live in mutual understanding and harmony. There is nothing worse for a dog- than when the owner doesn't know what they are doing, has no confidence, and is always worried about what if!

Many often believe that their dogs only need to complete an initial Puppy classes ' socialisation' course for their Dog to be well trained, but this stage is just the beginning. Training doesn't stop after 1 hour in the class or six weeks course. Training starts as early as puppies are born, all the way through their life. Like humans, they need to be reminded of the things that we don't practice daily.

Some- think that dogs were born programmed and should know how to behave without any training. However, they have some traits- breed-specific- retrievers retrieve, pointers point and hounds use their nose, but they won't know how to sit, stay, and recall, but for us, its so much more than that.

Some- tell their dog "watch and learn" but get mad when they don't!

Dogs can copy each other just like humans do, but they won't know what the word Sit actually means.

Positive reviews are always lovely to read, and I always ask my customers to inform me if there is anything they may not like- so I can improve right away and make sure all my customers are happy.

My father always taught me: "it is not new customers who will change your life. Its the returning customers", and I work very hard to make sure our new customers enjoy our classes that they are happy to return and recommend us to all who are looking for an excellent Dog training school to give their puppies and dogs best start in life.

Dog training is not all about sitting, down, staying, rollover or having a robot dog!

I personally love dogs with character and a little bit cheeky- that makes training much more fun! It is about your relationship, connection, communication and understanding between you and your Dog. Just like children between 2- 3years old, they can't explain what they want, so you have to understand and work out what they are trying to tell you.

Dogs do not speak human language, do not understand the concept or meaning of the words, but if you learn how they learn you can teach them so many amazing things.

How do dogs think? How do dogs seek attention? What are praise and punishment? How and when give them attention? How and when do you need to be in control of your Dog, and why is your Dog doing things they do? What is dominance? Why are dogs aggressive on the lead? Why are some dogs continuously on the information? What kind of leads are better? What are treats good to reward your Dog? Why my dog is nipping, and how to stop it? Is a crate good for a dog? What is used for and, how to train them to like it and enjoy it, how to use it correctly? We as owners need to know so many things because if we don't, we will teach our Dog's the wrong way and then we will pay a lot of money to fix it later in their life.

Dogs, like us humans, love being praised for good behaviour. If we are treated well and praised- we will repeat that behaviour again. If we get paid well for the job well done- we will work as hard and even harder next time for even better pay. Dogs so much simpler than humans- they get paid with attention, treats, toys and a good play.

When you finish our classes, you will be armed with lots of information for the rest of your life to keep working and enjoy life with your Dog. We will always be there for you if you ever need to ask a question, use our daycare or boarding or even just come for a dog walk with me and pack in the park.

How it all started:

Before opening our school, I wanted to research what dog owners like, love and hate in training?

So, I was enrolled on different schools, learning from different teachers, approaches and attitudes, and listening to students who attended with us about what they liked or disliked. My customer's opinion matters to me the most. Sometimes, I film myself running a class to make sure I am happy with how I do it.

We observed, listened and learned and when it was time to teach I knew how:
Nervous- of non-knowing what to expect from dog training,
Exited- to introduce your new puppy/dog to new tricks and watches him learn,
Scared- as you may have had a bad experience before and are not sure if it's a good decision to do it again,
Embarrassed- as your Dog's behaviour is very stressful and unwanted, and nobody wants to walk with you,
Last chance- you give your Dog, as you can't cope with naughty behaviour, barking, not coming back and being dominant.

Before starting teaching dogs and their owners:
I taught swimming children and adults from 2years to 70years. One who had never been in the water- and the one who was petrified of water and refused to go anywhere near it and Children with learning difficulties

Worked as a management team- working with teenagers, with all teenager problems you could ever imagine, they could not tell anyone else, teaching how to do their job without being too harsh or too soft.

With teaching skills I learned in my previous jobs, I could apply these teaching, observation, and understanding techniques to teach my dog owners and dogs.

With management skills- I can manage big groups and deal quickly to find the best solution for the situation, so everyone in the class leaves happy.

Working with children- I know how quickly dogs and humans lose interest in doing the same thing over and over again, my job is to keep classes exciting and entertaining, so everyone would like to come back for more and more training. Working with adults and the elderly, I have learned to have even more respect and patience, listen, and do everything in my power to help people have well-behaved Dogs and enjoy the rest of their lives together.

Seeing and knowing how my customers feel, we set our training classes accordingly to suit everybody.

Over the years Kevin has learned how to understand what you and your dog need by starting puppy classes and dog training from the beginning of me becoming a dog trainer.He is the sensible, smart, funny and bit crazy one and dogs love his energy.

Stanley is over 4 year old (English cream) Kobi is 3 years old. These boys have very important jobs as dog trainers at Top Dog House. Stanley is the playful one and all dogs love to have crazy run around with and Kobi is the baby of the family who always entertains all the other puppies. We use our babies for dog training and puppy classes too.

After deciding I hated my day job and needed a change/outlet, I reached out to Ineta to become part of the Top Dog Family, to help grow confidence and knowledge in a job field I would really like to venture into, that was back in September 2023 and I have loved every minute since! I am a cat mum to two boys Ginn & Ernie, and although I dont have a doggy of my own, getting to love everyone elses is an absolute privilege. Being part of Top Dog really is like having an extra family, working with Ineta, Kevin and Angel is an honour, and I have learnt so so much. Owning a dog is such a special experience and being able to help families learn all the tools they need is great fun!
